Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-06-11

1. Overview

BlinkSum ("we", "our", "us") operates the website at blinksum.com (the "Service"). This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal data.

2. Information We Collect

  • Player name: You choose a display name when joining a game. Stored temporarily in room state.
  • Session data: Room code and player name saved in your browser's localStorage for reconnection.
  • Game state: In-memory only. No persistent storage of game history or user accounts.
  • Technical data: WebSocket connection metadata (IP address visible to server, not logged).

3. Cookies and Local Storage

We use browser localStorage to save your room code and player name for automatic reconnection.

The Service may use additional cookies from third-party advertising or analytics providers as described in the Advertising and Third-Party Services sections below. You can control or block cookies through your browser settings; doing so may impact reconnection and other site features.

4. Advertising (Google AdSense)

The Service may display advertisements provided by Google AdSense or comparable advertising networks. When enabled:

  • Google, as a third-party vendor, uses advertising cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this Service and other websites.
  • Third-party vendors and ad networks may also use cookies, web beacons, or similar technologies to collect non-personally-identifying information for ad delivery and measurement.
  • You may opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ad Settings, or opt out of some third-party vendors at aboutads.info.
  • For users in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, consent prompts will be shown where required.

Advertising is not enabled by default; this section describes what to expect once it is enabled. A consent banner will be shown at the time advertising starts.

5. Third-Party Services

The Service is hosted on Fly.io infrastructure. We may use lightweight analytics tools (such as Plausible, Umami, Cloudflare Web Analytics, or comparable products) to measure aggregate page views and reach. Analytics data is not joined with personally identifying information.

6. Children's Privacy

The Service does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Advertising, when enabled, is configured to comply with applicable child-directed treatment requirements.

7. Data Retention

Game rooms and player data are held in memory only and cleared when a room becomes inactive (approximately 60 seconds after last player disconnects).

8. Your Rights

You may clear your local session data at any time by clearing browser storage or visiting the site in private/incognito mode. You may also opt out of personalised advertising as described in the Advertising section.

9. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be indicated by updating the "Last updated" date.
